Do you like a little romance with your sci-fi?
I do, which is why I love writing sci-fi romances like my newest release with Etopia Press, Prince’s Courtesan. They say the first step is admitting to yourself you have a problem and all that… I’ll admit it, I’m a Star Trek nerd. There. I said it. Out loud.
I remember watching the Original Series with Kirk and Spock when I was a kid but I didn’t really get into it until The Next Generation started. I was eleven and yeah, even more embarrassingly, I had a crush on Wesley. Com’on, I was eleven! It was on at six on a Mondays, and I loved it. There was just something about a new story each week, meeting new people, new situations. I think it’s the sense of potential about SciFi that I love. That feeling that anything can happen taps into something deep inside. Add to that a good romance and that’s it, you’ve got me hook, line and sinker.
Prince’s Courtesan was very much written with that sense of potential in mind. It started with just one scene, where Seth finally catches up with Jai after pursuing her for five years. It was just one snippet, one clear glimpse at a scene in the story where a man had pursued the woman he loved (but didn’t necessarily know he did) and finally had her in his grasp. Did he have the power, or did she? What had made her stop running? What did he do next? As a writer and a sci-fi fan, that scene was irresistible!
So, how about you? What are your thoughts on romance in Sci-fi? Love it? Or loathe it?

I had to laugh about this. I was a little older when TNG came out, but I couldn’t wait to see if Troi and Riker were ever going to declare their love, and then when it became Troi and Worf, well that was even better.
Congrats on your book release! I’m going to check it out right now!
Oops, the new book doesn’t seem to be up on amazon, but I did like the look of some of your other titles, so I downloaded a sample chapter of a couple of them to my Kindle.
