Sick child. No sleep. Kinda says it all.

Plan…

Coffee (LOTS of)

Child on sofa stuffed with liquids and fed a diet of cartoons.

Write (hopefully – not guaranteeing quality)

Doin’ the Tuna Fish Shakes!

Ok, so either I ate some really dodgy tuna or I’m developing an allergic reaction (or something to tuna). Last night I had THE worst bout of the shakes and sickness I can remember since the last time I had food poisoning. And believe me, I absolutely HATE being physically sick, i’ll do anything to avoid it. Fortunately I’m one of those people with a really strong digestive system. If it’s bad enough to make me sick, it’s bad and usually taken out everyone around me (apart from my daughter who seems to have inherited the same tendency for which I am eternally grateful!!)

However, every cloud has a silver lining. Last night between feeling rough and attempting to talk to the almighty on the big white telephone there and lying like a sick duck on the sofa watching a rerun of the olympic opening ceremony (which was amazing) I managed three pages of long hand for Feral, which is about to get typed up.

Still feel sick but the OH has whisked brat off to go shopping so I have, count them, TWO hours of writing time. ALONE!!!

So, sorry, less blogging and more writing. Catch you later!!

Ok, I’m back from the cold that’s wiped me out for the last couple of days. It’s not completely gone but at the least I’m managing to think now. Well, as much as I ever do!

Yesterday I finally caved in and brought Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It was actually cheaper to buy the physical book than the ebook version, especially as I wasn’t sure I could read the two formats it was available in. At least I won’t have that problem with a book book!! It should arrive tomorrow so that’ll be me for the next couple of days devouring it. I have been waiting for this story since the start of the series, as a character Acheron really intrigues me. I can’t wait to see what Sherrilyn did with the story!!

Ok, on the writing side. Feral is three chapters down, which need self-editing, the synopsis is done. So today’s plan is to edit and write the query letter. I’m sending this one off as a partial to Blade as they published Vixen (due to be released 2nd Sept), the book before this one.

Ugh *wanders in and blinks* This is far too early in the morning. I am not a morning person. Anything before 10am is frankly obscene. Ok, so the wordcount was up yesterday, 1427 on Feral. Which means chapter three is now complete and ready to be edited, polished and sent off in a partial. So, today I’ll be typing up a synopsis. Joy. I HATE those. On the plus side, I’m planning to go get Educating Rose by Lissa Matthews from Cobblestone later. I hear it’s a good read.

Writing and ‘that’ time of the month…

So I was taking a look over the recent wordcounts. They’re a little low for what I normally put out in the last two weeks and I haven’t been able to figure out why. Until it struck me that this month has been a bad one hormonally. I suffer from depression on and off, nothing too bad… well, I don’t LET it get too bad, I generally ignore it. But it makes me tired and lethargic… which has been affecting my writing.

It’s not as if I’m stuck in the projects I’m working on. I have plots worked out, twists and turns I’m anticipating writing. But actually sitting down and writing them – THAT’S been the trick. At every opportunity I’m off doing something else. Coding, or browsing the internet… off playing RPG’s or something.

However, things should level out with the hormones this week :D Already I’m feeling more with it, so we’ll see if it affects the word counts and my theory is correct!!

Ugh, so last night pretty much sucked for writing. I got around 400 on unicorn but that was about it. I just couldn’t get into it, even though I know where both are going so I’m not stuck on direction but the words just wouldn’t come. I have noticed though, I’ve been writing consistently for the last two weeks or so, admittedly lower word counts than usual but something every day whereas before I was writing three or four days at around 2k then having a break for a couple of days and then start again.

Perhaps that’s it? Perhaps my mind needs the break.

In breaking news though, I got an idea for the next in the series after Feral. This one will be called either Rogue or Talon and is Kassandra’s story. Kassandra, who was turned down by both Marak and Kalen, is pretty much the laughing stock of polite Kyn society, (It’s pretty much like regency england society to give you an idea) everyone assumes there’s something wrong with her because two Kyn nobles turned her down. But then things get worse, her brothers financial interests are bought up and the only way to save the family home, honour, pet cat etc… is to marry some guy. Who turns out to be someone she knows… That’s the only hint I’m giving ;) (at least until I figure out more about it myself)

Good news on the Vixen front though! A tentative release date of September 1st has been given!! Which made me ‘eeek’ this morning, I need to get my skates on with the edits! I didn’t realise it was going to be so soon!! :D

Kamikaze now on sale!!

Friends of mine have a new release out today! I’ve been looking forwards to this one, so I’ll just leave you all with the link and disappear off to get my copy!!

Zoe Bennett is an inexperienced werewolf in the grip of her mating cycle. With no pack and no mate, Zoe must brave the supernatural crowds of Last Call, the bar where your drink order tells everyone what you need.

Kamikaze: Werewolf in heat, looking for a temporary mate.

The chase is on, and security specialist Connor O’Malley intends to win, if only because the sweet young woman at the bar looks unprepared for what the night might bring, in and out of the bedroom. Little does he know that, when he catches her, he may not be satisfied being just a temporary mate.

Unicorn Cover!

Ok, so I decided to venture into the world of 3d for the Unicorn cover – mainly because good stock images of unicorns are damn hard to find!!!

(clickie for larger image)

Ok, ok I know there’s no unicorn on it yet! I’m waiting for Daz 3D to come up again so I can actually purchase the unicorny bit to go on the horsey bit so I can put in here but since the woman alone took 3 HOURS to render, I wanted to show off.

Now I’m not normally a fan of 3d style covers but I have to say I’m pleased with this one. Perhaps it’s what you use and how you pose ‘em that makes the difference?

Ugh, colds suck.

Last night’s sleep was interrupted with the tell tale stuffiness, the ache behind and over the eyes accompanied by the feeling your eyes have been rolled in sand before being put back in your eye sockets (wonderful imagery huh?). Add to this the intervals where I was either boiling or freezing and you get an idea of my wonderful night!!

However, today all I have to accomplish is hoovering the stairs and getting the brat up to the inlaws. Even in this state I’m sure I can manage that!! Oh, and write. Never too dead to write, although I can’t promise the quality of the resulting work.

We are, however, getting sky fitted today which is the reason for the brat going up to the inlaws even though I’m at home. Tools and brat do not mix. Or rather they mix TOO well. The guy would be leaving without half his as they made their way into brat’s toybox!!
